APICS DANBURY CHAPTER

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT MEETINGS - JANUARY WEBINAR

In January we take a different approach and offer a Lunch&Learn webinar from Noon-1:00PM on Wednesday, Jan. 18th

Our topic this year will be "IS TWITTER FOR YOU?" our speaker will be John Capron CPIM who has spoken before to our chapter.

Is Twitter a tool for use by operations professionals? We’ll attempt to answer that question as you are taken through the basics of using it.

We’ll cover:

  • setting up the application
  • how to create a tweet
  • how to find and follow people and organizations
  • thoughts on how to effectively use it, whether for your organization (think local APICS chapter), or for you as an individual

Want to see an example of an APICS chapter Twitter site, click on this link to the Mid-Hudson APICS Twitter site or this one LINK for Danbury's Twitter site.

Registration is a two step process. Register for the no charge meeting on our website and we will send you a link to the webinar a few days before the event. There is no fee for the event.

We do not expect to have a meeting in February but will on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 with speaker: Steve Mazzuca: who will speak on  "Communications, Presentation Skills: Presenting With Impact". The meeting will be held at the Metting House Pub in Bethel.

Classes

The Danbury chapter is prepared to offer instructor lead classes for CPIM, CSCP and CLTD. In all cases we need a minimum of 5 students to run the class.

CPIM  (CERTIFIED IN PRODUCTION AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT)- In light of the restrucuring of CPIM we are offering a 10 week review course for BSCM that could start when we have students. The course for the second part of CPIM will not be available until September 2017. The price for the BSCM course will be $695 which includes the Participant Guide and the instructor led 10 week class. Pricing is not yet available for the second part of CPIM.

CSCP ( CERTIFIED SUPPLY CHAIN PROFESSIONAL) - We are not currently planning to offer this 10 week review course but it is available. Both New Haven (www.apics-newhaven.org) and APICS Tappan Zee (www.apicstz.org) are offering classes

CLTD (CERTIFIED LOGISTICS TRANSPORTATION DISTRIBUTION) - The APICS Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD) designation is the newest APICS certification. CLTD will assess individuals based on a comprehensive body of knowledge, best practices, and standards for those in the logistics, transportation, and distribution industries. There is only 1 all-encompassing test for the certification.

Earning the CLTD credential makes you a recognized expert in the logistics, transportation and distribution fields. Certification demonstrates in-depth knowledge of a broad range of topics to set you apart from your colleagues — proving your high level of knowledge and skills. The CLTD will make you a more valuable asset to your organization, keeping you and your organization more competitive in today’s global economy.

The Danbury APICS Chapter will offer a 10 week, instructor led, study course on the CLTD Body of Knowledge if we can get a minimum of 5 students. The classes would be held at the Danbury Library, hopefully on Saturdays from 10:30 - 1:30.

The student package  includes the CLTD Exam Content Manual, the reading materials, one year access to the online Learning System, and 30 hours of classroom instruction.

We will need 5 students in order to hold the class. The package price will be $1,400. No payments are required until we get the minimum of 5 students. At that point payment will be due and we will have the material shipped to you.

If you choose to go with independent study, the package from APICS, without the classroom instruction would be $895 plus shipping ($20). If you order it through the Danbury Chapter the price will be $750. Contact us if you are interested in this non-instructor approach
